Welcome to Utsav Malayalee Samaj

Utsav Malayalee Samaj is a not-for-profit socio-cultural organization representing the Keralite community in Melbourne’s western suburbs. Established in 2008, Utsav serves a vibrant community of over 400 members residing within the Brimbank and Melton council areas. The organization is dedicated to promoting the rich cultural and social values of Kerala and passing them on to the next generation of Australian-born children of Keralite descent.

Utsav provides meaningful opportunities for community members to connect, train, and showcase traditional art forms during major cultural celebrations such as Thiruvonam (the harvest festival), Christmas and New Year, and Vishu (the Malayalam New Year). The organization encourages its members to be responsible citizens and positive ambassadors of Keralite culture, embracing Australia’s multicultural way of life while preserving and celebrating their own cultural heritage.

Utsav also fosters awareness of contemporary social and cultural issues, inspiring members to respond creatively and constructively. In addition, through its “Trees for Life” environmental initiative, members actively contribute to re-vegetation efforts by planting native species along the Kororoit Creek, reinforcing the community’s commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.
